It is a traditional south China dish. Using lot of cured sausage and meat to cook with the stick rice together. It is savory and delicious. It is best for the winter time and it will warm you up. My recipe is super simple. Just put everything in the rice cooker and you are all set. To nail it, please follow the exact amount of water to cook the rice.

Ingredients
- 230 g glutinous rice (1.5cup of rice cooker measuring cup / fig1)
- 50 g Chinese cured sausage (fig2)
- 30 g Chinese cured pork belly
- 2 pcs egg
- 20 g dried shrimps (soaked)
- 20 g shiitake mushroom (soaked)
- 200 ml water
Seasoning
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce (fig3)
- 2 tsp light soy sauce (fig4)
- 2 tsp dark soy sauce (can reduce to 1 tsp/ fig5)
- 1 tsp sugar
- ½ tsp chicken powder (Optional)
- ½ tsp garlic powder (Optional)
Other ingredients
- 2 tbsp fried shallot flakes (fig6)
- 1 tbsp diced green onions
Instructions
- Soak the rice with water for at least 3 hours
- Drain all the water. Mix the seasoning and the rice together. Dice cured sausage, pork belly, dried shrimps and mushroom. Set them aside
- Put rice, diced cured sausage, pork belly, dried shrimps and mushroom into the rice cooker. Add in the water. Turn on the rice cooker and let it cook the rice (usually, about 30-50mins)
- Pan fried the egg in a frying pan with 1 tsp of oil. Slice it and set it aside.
- Once the rice is cooked, mix it well. Let it sit in the rice cooker for another 10 mins
- It is now ready to serve. You can top the rice with fried shallot, green onion and egg slices.
